It was the spring of 1985 and I was a sophomore in architecture at the University of California, Davis. My professor had asked us to design an interior office space for the American National Bank. He assigned us a piece of paper on which he had drawn a box. Then he told us, “You can use AutoCAD to help you design this office.” We both very excited, because this pretty advanced stuff for a sophomore architecture student. My first experience with AutoCAD came when I was working for an architecture studio. I remember seeing the programs at the company offices at 1656 Aliceanna St. Today, I use AutoCAD and a Revit MEP plan to be able to create 3D models of a building, including elevations and sections.
